Meeting the artist within …
De Kleine Academie is located in Brussels, the heart of Europe, a city that offers a very rich cultural life, with world class theatrical performances, concerts, exhibitions and many other cultural events.
Brussels is also within quick and easy reach of Europe's other major cities.
De Kleine Academie was founded in 1986 by Luc De Smet. It is an original theatre school whose unique pedagogical approach, centered on movement and play, sets it apart from traditional repertory theatre. It focusses on the development of creative talent and prepares students to produce their own original work. This makes the Kleine Academie a unique education for artists in any field or discipline, be they experienced or just starting out, and for people working in, or interested in working in other creative professions.
De Kleine Academie is able to make use of professional quality theatre studios, a large theatre hall and full technical support.
Those interested can also follow lighting, sound, and set design workshops.
De Kleine Academie is ever changing, ever questionning its purpose and place, and that is why it has always been a unique workshop for creators, inventors, scientists and dreamers, athletes of the body and mind, for thinkers who act and do, an Academy for permament development, with the arts as its aim and tool.
